Be careful when buying a used car in Michigan.

My father lives in Michigan. I live in Delaware. We both purchased Jeep Grand Cherokee’s in 1997. 12 years later my jeep (no longer my primary car) still looks pretty good even with 200,000 miles on it. My fathers Jeep on the other hand is a rust bucket. The rocker panels are completely rusted out, the bottom of all four doors are rusted through, the rear portion of the back lift gate is so rusty you can push a pencil through what was once sheet metal. Why did he keep it if it were in this condition? Primarily for riding the 4 x 4 trails and hauling his boat in and out of the water once a year. I think he’s using it this month to trade in on the cash for clunkers deal at Shaheen GM which is primarily a Michigan Buick Dealership but they also sell a large selection of Michigan Used Cars.
